Warm copper tones in the en-suite bathroom echo the bronze window casings on the exterior of the house. Underfloor heating in this room, and elsewhere in the house, is powered by a combination of an air source pump, solar hot-water panels and an energy-efficient gas boiler.
In a space known so long for its neutral whites and light wood stain colors, it is a bit surprising to see dark shades starting to pick up pace. This includes dark tile flooring, grey painted elegant cabinets, matte black plumbing fixtures and cabinet hardware and even dark painted accent walls.
The main fixtures in your bathroom, such as the toilet, sink and tub, are all likely white. Dark colors can complement this well and create a pleasing contrast. While you may not want to paint your bathroom black, especially if it is a small space, you can create a pleasing look with a deep blue or rich burgundy.
Flooring is quite important in a bathroom. If you have an older bathroom, it may still have colorful linoleum. A more modern space likely has something resembling tile or hardwood. Often, the flooring is the most dramatic permanent feature in the room. Choose a color that complements your flooring, but do not try to match it exactly, because that is nearly impossible to do.
