The seating doesn’t have to be too elaborate, though, and sometimes a simple stool will do. A bathroom remodel should feature a nice balance of elegance and simplicity, and using a stool as an accent piece can play a big part.
Gone are the days of the colourful toilets that were seen in many homes during the 70s and 80s. The modern toilet is largely white and, in line with modern design trends, saves water with every flush.Wall hung toilets and hidden cisterns are very popular, as they save space and make it easier to clean the floor underneath.
To finish off a modern, yet sustainable bathroom, replace incandescent or halogen light bulbs with energy saving LED or halogen lights. Energy saving light bulbs can save up to 30 percent of energy and they’re available in dimmable versions too, so they won’t put a damper on the romantic and relaxing atmosphere you’re after.
Size is always important so look around and see how much you can dedicate to the accessories. Do you have space for a large trash can in the bathroom or would you rather just give up this item altogether? How big could the soap dispenser be to nicely fit on the sink or by the washbasin? Perhaps you could save space with a wall-mounted one.
